Our range of digital projectors comes in two basic flavours, SVGA or XGA. Which to use depends upon the job in hand. For boardroom type preseentation for up to about 30 people (in most circumstances) one of our SVGA digital projectors is probably the unit to rent. The XGA projectors are generally suitable for presentations of up to about 100 people (again depending upon the circumstances). There are some other differences between the units which we wil go into later. It is worth pointing out that most modern digital audio visual projectors do not have much in the way of on board sound capability (ie. the speakers are very poor and comparable with a laptop) so if your multimedia presentation requires audio this must be considered separately. We have a full range of sound systems available and we will be happy to advise. In many cases a set of powered PC speakers will be adequate (at least for smaller jobs).

So, back to the key differences between the projectors: Basically, it comes down to a) brightness & b) resolution. The brightness factor is fairly self explanatory, with SVGA models tending to be around 1500 ANSI lumens & XGA models 2500 lumens or above. The second difference to an equivalence with a computer screen size in pixel dimensions. Confused? No need to be, here we go. Computer screen displays are usually either 800 pixels wide by 600 high (SVGA) or 1024 pixels wide by 768 pixels high (XGA) and the two different projector resolutions equate to this. Projectors will happily translate from most input resolutions to their native resolution with only a slight loss of quality. Our SVGA projectors will handle VGA, SVGA, XGA or SXGA inputs which just about covers all eventualities. The XGA models will do all this too, and possibly more. To achieve a professional result from your Powerpoint (or multimedia) presentation we would recommend using a screen. We have basic, easy to erect tripod screens which are perfect for most applications. We stock pull-down screens, and fast-fold screens. All of these are available in various sizes from 4 feet to 8 feet. Prices vary according to type & size.
